We’re very excited to announce that joining Empora this week is a retailer with eco-chic very much on their mind: Ascension.com. The online department store (formerly Adili if that helps to ring any bells) focuses on ethical fashion, and, along with their own fabulous Ascension collections, also stock goods from over 60 likewise ethically-minded brands.
From Bono and wife Ali Hewson‘s organic clothing range Edun, to the gorgeous range of vegan handbags from Matt & Nat, these are quality products which not only stylish, but will also let you sleep easy at night. Whether you are concerned about the environment and fair-trade and want to do your bit to help, or simply prefer organic and recycled fabrics, there is something for everyone at Ascension.
They offer standard delivery for £3.95, but delivery is FREE if you spend £50 or more – and once you start browsing, you’ll see that’s not hard to do!

My-Wardrobe.com launched in early 2006 and rather quickly became one of our favourite sites for shopping the very best in high fashion brands. From established names like Mulberry, Helmut Lang and Sonia by Sonia Rykiel to newer designers such as PPQ, Christopher Kane and Paul & Joe, My-Wardrobe has their finger on the pulse of all that is cutting-edge and current.
We’ve also been lucky enough in the past to stumble upon some excellent bargains on their sale pages – Sass & Bide jeans with 60% off?! Um, yes please!
With a speedy delivery service (most orders arrive the next day in the UK and Europe), beautifully wrapped parcels (love the chic grey bows), and one of the best returns policies we know of (you can return all items, including sale items if they don’t fit), My-Wardrobe is bookmarked as the first place we turn to when we’re after our online shopping fix!
We think BunnyHug must be a retailer after our own hearts. Not only are they are a one-stop shop for all the young, hip brands you are bound to see on your favourite celebs AND all the hottest fashionistas in town (they sell some of our favourites, including Sass & Bide, Alice McCall, House of Harlow 1960, Siwy Denim, AM Eyewear and Wildfox Couture – to name just a few).
But they also offer FREE standard shipping to anywhere in the UK, wrap their parcels to perfection (opening your order is just as good as Christmas, we swear!) and, if for some reason you’re not happy with your purchase (it doesn’t fit etc), they are probably one of the nicest and most helpful online boutiques we’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with in regards to returns. A tip from us: Keep an eye on their sale pages too, for some great designer bargains. Overall, BunnyHug is a complete win-win and we can’t recommend them enough!

If you’ve been wondering why the Uniqlo site was running a bit slow this morning (and why there are near-mob scenes in the Oxford Circus branch), then you obviously haven’t heard about the much-anticipated Jil Sander collaboration which launched today. Called Uniqlo +J, the collection has all the aesthetic features of a Jil Sander mainline – simple lines, great cuts, fabulous fabrics. And all priced between £14.99 and £99.99. Get thee to Oxford Street pronto… or alternatively, shop the standard Uniqlo stuff at Empora (it’s also very good – and very well priced!)
Luxury retailer Forzieri is well-known in it’s native Italy, starting out as a designer boutique in Florence in 1992, and building up to what it is at present – a global online retailer with a focus on high-end Italian and European brands. Wearing Anya Hindmarch: Angelina Jolie / Naomi Watts / Jennifer Garner / Reese Witherspoon
It all started for Anya Hindmarch at age 18, when, after a spur-of-the-moment decision to study in Florence, she had a brainwave to import a popular Italian bag design back to the UK. Thanks to some contacts at Harpers & Queen, the bag featured in the magazine and Anya received an order for 500. And so her bag business was born. Opening a store on London’s Walton Street, she soon turned her attentions to design, and these days her bags are stocked all over the world and carried by some of the most fashionable and well-known women, such as Angelina Jolie, Reese Witherspoon, Margaret Thatcher and Madonna.
Describing her brand as “British, humorous and bespoke”, Anya places a huge emphasis on quality and craftsmanship and this has been carried on through to her collections of footwear, luggage and ready-to-wear. She has been called upon to design gift bags for the Vanity Fair Oscar’s party three times but what she may be best known for, is her limited-edition “I’m Not A Plastic Bag” totes, created to bring awareness to wasted plastic bags – they had 80,000 people queuing up in one day in the UK alone, caused a “scrum” of shopping hysteria in Beijing and spurred people to sell them for ridiculous amounts on eBay.

New to Empora this week is TheCorner.com, a retailer whose site is divided into “mini-stores”, where each brand or designer has their own little corner to convey the aesthetic and image of their collections through video and editorial content. Started by the same people who have brought us Yoox (looooove Yoox!), TheCorner provides the very latest in cutting-edge men’s design – with all the hottest brands, international designers and up-and-coming labels together in one place. Here, you’ll find everything from Helmut Lang to Marc Jacobs to Raf Simons… that’s just three names, and there are plenty more good things to sink your teeth into. Make you sure you check it out!
