Sources revealed today that Clemence Poesy, fashion darling and actress, will be appearing in Season 4 of stylish US drama Gossip Girl. As famous for her impeccable sense of style as her time on screen, Poesy has appeared in both Harry Potter and Vogue in her time. Steal her look with these KG by Kurt Geiger sandals, there’s a sale on too so you’d better hurry! With the first two episodes of GG to be set in Paris, it seems Clemence’s French accent might have helped secure her the part of Chuck’s new girlfriend…
Jessica Alba has been papped out and about in LA sporting a new style. The starlet has swapped her usual safe pumps for a braver, bolder choice – a pair of Cherry Red Dr Martens. Normally a favourite reserved for edgier celebs such as Agyness Deyn, these boots add a tough edge to a simplistic daytime look. Since 1960 Dr Marten’s have represented alternative fashion in all its guises, from Mod to Punk, Factory Worker to Brit Popper, these boots have always meant business. Now being spotted on more A-List celebs than you can count, could this spurn an alternative breed of footwear for festival season? Maybe it’s time to ditch your wellies and do up your laces…
Real or faux, there has been a definite influx of celebrities rugging up in fur lately, especially after seeing it all over the catwalks as a major trend for Autumn/Winter. Kate Moss is one such culprit – although we’re willing to be that’s not faux fur she’s wearing! – but, despite this, we can’t help but feel there is something so cosy-looking, so chic about a bit of fuzzy-wuzzy fur. Or faux fur, if you prefer.
With a variety of shaggy, fluffy and feathered styles to choose from – simply throw on a jacket, coat or vest with jeans, leggings or an evening dress for that added bit of winter warmth.
We realize not everyone is in agreement on the fur issue, which is why we’ve given you a selection of real and faux jackets to choose from… products details below:
Monsoon Carrington faux fur coat, £120
Oasis shaggy fur jacket, £90
Lipsy faux fur jacket, £75
Miu Miu goat fur jacket, £1353.60 from MyTheresa
Juicy Couture cropped faux fur jacket, £240 from Net-a-Porter
Britain is apparently set for the biggest storm of the year this weekend. So right now, we’ve decided we’ll probably be getting snug in our lovely lounge-lazing clothes and watching a DVD or three while the rain lashes on outside. However, sometimes going out in such miserable conditions is unavoidable, so a darn good brolly might be needed!
We are absolutely smitten with this colour-changing beauty by Squid London – the black and white skyline suddenly turns multicolour when exposed to water. Brilliant. At least if we’re going to get drenched, we might as well have some fun doing so! It’s £30 from Farfetch and you can pick one up here.
The day is nearly upon us. If you’re a Jimmy Choo fan, love a good high street-designer collaboration or indeed just worship fashion, we probably don’t even need to remind you that Jimmy Choo for H&M lands in store tomorrow – we’re guessing, like us, you probably noted that one in your diary a long time ago!
The collection, which features footwear, bags, jewellery and womenswear, is priced at just a fraction of the cost the main line designs normally go for. We’ve heard the shoes and bags will be priced between €40 and €200 – a steal really, when you consider they are usually priced at £500 and upwards.
There is bound to be mass hysteria and crazy queues (especially as it’s launching on a Saturday), so if you are dead set on snagging yourself something from the collection, we’d advise you to get there early – and get those elbows at the ready!
The Oxford Circus flagship store will be issuing the first 160 people in the queue with wristbands, which will allow the lucky holders to spend 10 minutes in a VIP area of the store, picking out your favourite pieces. The rest may not be so lucky!
If you’d rather avoid the stampede and shop the current season main collection online, then shop Jimmy Choo now!
Velvet is just one of those fabrics which feels so right for the colder months. It’s festive, it’s luxe and we love that there is something quite rock n roll about it too! Velvet definitely made it’s presence felt on the runways for Autumn/Winter 09-10 at shows including Christopher Kane, Fendi, Prada and Stella McCartney. Stylistas everywhere (including the fashion-forward celeb crowd) have been jumping on it before we’ve even hit the heart of winter – so we expect much more to come!
A dress a la Jessica Alba, Emma Watson or Alexa Chung is a rather obvious way to wear velvet – be it a full velvet frock or simply with velvet accents or piping. Wear with opaque tights and ankle boots on those chilly days and consider mixing textures and adding some more rocker glamour by covering up with a leather motorcycle jacket.
Diane Kruger manages to go where not many would dare to follow in this Chloe velvet all-in-one… if you’re not feeling quite so brave, then try teaming some velvet carrot leg trousers with a crisp white shirt, or a loose velvet top tucked into a pencil skirt.
We’ve included some of our favourite velvet pieces below…
Christopher Kane Hanna silk and velvet dress, £1,485 from Net-a-Porter
Derek Lam velvet trim chiffon t-shirt, £455 from Net-a-Porter
La Petite S***** asymmetric velvet dress, £495 from Net-a-Porter
Chloe gathered velvet skirt, £945 from Net-a-Porter
Monsoon Fusion Beethoven velvet dress, £60
Jigsaw Velvet Bloom top, £89
Milly velvet dot dress, £182 from TheOutnet
Jigsaw silk velvet tie bow skirt, £89
